Bishop The Overseer

Bishop The Overseer is a Hip-Hop/Rap Recording and Performing Artist born in St. Louis, Missouri. In August 1993, he relocated to Newark, New Jersey. While in Newark, he developed his ability to write song compositions and created the alias [Bishop The Overseer]. B.I.S.H.O.P is an acronym for Best Individual Style Only Happens Through Potential. Deeply rooted with religious origins, Bishop seeks to oversee every aspect of his life, and the acronym adds context to who he has evolved to be as a person.

In June 2001, he published his first commercial release the "Brick City's Finest (EP)." The release of the EP lead to merchandising, touring, and distribution opportunities. In April 2003, Bishop released the single "B.I. Season (Keep It On Blaze)". This single secured his first major retail distribution deal with Trans World Entertainment. Both releases where physically available in over 300 brick-and-mortar FYE (For Your Entertainment), Coconuts, and Strawberries retail locations throughout the East Coast.

In February 2005, Bishop made his acting debut on Rescue Me (Denis Leary). Bishop went on to secure acting roles on Music & Lyrics (Drew Barrymore), Enchanted (Patrick Dempsey), American Gangster (Denzel Washington), I Am Legend (Will Smith), Bourne (Matt Damon), Taking of Pelham (Denzel Washington & John Travolta), and Salt (Angelina Jolie) to name a few.

In January 2010, Bishop released the double album “Money Spot (Part I)”. It featured hit singles including “Tag Team” and “Success Is Essential” released on “B.I. Season (Keep It On Blaze)”, featured on the “B.I. Season (Keep It On Blaze) Eastern Tour”, and charted on Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 Single Sales (#7, #26 & #40). The single “Part-Time Hustlers” featured on “Commitment To A Positive Change National Ad Campaign (Volume 1)” charted with various Record Pools, College and Secondary Radio Stations reaching #13 in the United States and #5 in Canada. The single “B.I.S.H.O.P” featuring Felicia Graham and Grammy Award Winning Songwriter and Composer Gordon Chambers charted on Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 Single Sales (#8, #21, #23, #28, #35, #39, #45 & #47). The Remastered Version of Money Spot (Part I) was released August 29, 2017, and included additional unreleased material.
